So I know I already posted from yesterday to fill out this week’s blog post, but at the time I was a little tired and didn’t think I had a lot to talk about. I ususally don’t. So this isn’t much different.
BUT I have to say that last night I watched Louis CK’s movie “Tomorrow Night” via the download link on his site, and… wow. What a crazy, ridiculous piece of work (in a good way). If you’re a fan of the show Louie, I think you’ll really enjoy it. A lot of the directorial style, the weird dialogue, the crazy hyperbolic events and characters are totally consistent with the kind of work he still does now, which is interesting, right? It makes you wonder if people’s voices really change much over the years, or if you direct one movie or write one book, maybe you’ll continue using similar ideas and ways to tell your story.
The movie also features people like Steve Carrell, JB Smoove, and also cameos from people like Nick DiPaulo, Matt Walsh, Amy Poehler, Wanda Sykes, and Conan O’Brien. And this is like, the 90s, before a lot of them got bigger breaks (not Conan). The other characters are amazing – there’s an emotionally abusive old man character with a gambling problem whose voice still rings in my head and I don’t think I’ll be able to get it out any time soon.
Anyway, I recommend it. I laughed out loud a lot, by myself, which is a good feeling. Give it a looky loo, and if you hate it you can blame me.
