On New York City – Part II

My last post felt a little drab, and I didn’t mean to make the city sound like a god-awful place. It’s not. It’s beautiful, unique, and there’s nothing quite like living here anywhere else I’ve ever been. Fascinating people who are all in the same boat as you, street vendors, iced coffee sold on almost every street corner, and never a dull day. Here are some pictures of some of my favorite parts of the city – things that are in my neighborhood, just blocks away. I whole-heartedly invite any of my friends to send me pictures of their favorite parts of the city and I’ll re-blog them.

Cathedral Church of St. John the Divine. Supposedly the largest cathedral in the US (see the mom and kid on the steps, there? look close...) This gorgeous church is right down the street from where I live.

Statue in the courtyard of Cathedral Church of St. John the Divine. This is my favorite statue in the city. Around the base are inscriptions, and in the courtyard around it are peacocks. TONS OF PEACOCKS.

Morningside Park. In my opinion, one of the prettiest parks I've ever been too. It spans about twelve blocks just northwest of where central park ends. Walking along Morningside drive, you can look out over the wall and see the park below, as well as all the way across Harlem.

Upright Citizen's Brigade Theatre. This is my happy place. Around the corner from a dumpy McDonalds in Chelsea, they make some of the funniest comedy you'll see in the city.

There’s more – much more. Maybe I’ll post a “happy thing of the week” from now on. New York is great, and you already knew you wanted to move here, right? Then do it. You’ll make it work out.
